Roller press came to the market in the mid of 1980s. The roller press and the ball mill combined the united grinding system or semi-united grinding system which was widely used in various grinding system.
Roller press has the following advantages in grinding system: 1) reduces power consumption, improve output. 2) Improve cement quality 3) less noisy.
However, its biggest disadvantage is severe surface abrasion of the rollers. Usually, the wear resistant parts of roller press will be worn-out after about half a year’s continuous running.
The key to guarantee the life of the roller press is remanufacturing its surface by overlaying promptly. If the overlayed surface was well protected, there will be few times for stopping production.
In the past ,most cement factories usually choose wear-resistant strip which made up of high chromium cast iron, after overlaying welding, the base part of such kind of resistant -strip is iron, while the base on the surface is carbide. The content of the carbon is more than 3%, while the hardness of the overlayed layer is about HRC60.Its wear-resistant performance is well. However, its combination, anti-crackle and anti-fatigue ability is weak. Due to the stress in running, large scope of spalls is likely to appear on such kind of roller press. As a result, we need remanufacture such kind of roller press every month. Meanwhile the cross crackle will affect the base part of the press roller, thus, the surface base part of the press roller appear defects. In turns, roller is becoming worse and worse till the whole press roller destroyed.
