It is the key to ensure life service of roller press by overlaying and maintenance timely to roller surface. The manufacturing and overlaying remanufacturing process requirements for squeeze roller include that there should be no crack in welding process, the hardness of roller surface is no less than HRC55, roller press works properly , abrasion resistance of roller surface and integration should be good and roller press are worn evenly in operation.
For normal wear, excessive wear, peeling off in large areas, overload operation, and other different failure modes caused by poor performance of roller itself and foreign material introduced to roller, usually three remanufacturing processes can be applied including on-line partial welding, on-line overlaying, off-line overhaul repair according to customers’ particular circumstances (Whether spare squeeze roller of roller press is available and repair is needed.),. On-line repair welding will be introduced as following.
Partial welding or chipping in small area caused by foreign matter or oversized particles can be done timely to ensure the roller’s performance and avoid deep destruction. Onsite repair welding is very important for daily maintenance of factory.
The wear layers to be welded should be determined by damaged depth of roller. Before overlaying, the cement ash and fatigue layer of roller should be removed. There should be good compatibility between overlaying materials and original roller. Meanwhile, transition layer should be overlaid to avoid heavy welding stress which will destruct original roller.
Process for onsite repair welding is simple and only clear up the remained surface caused by peeling off. Then different welding materials such as electrode or welding wire with CO2 gas shield welding are applied according to destructive depth of roller. Welding wire is the priority due to its good in forming performance, high efficiency for welding, high automation.
From the view of run and maintenance of roller press, there is much longer service life for the roller press which is welded daily and repaired timely.
